1938 Born on the 24th of March in Velbert (Rhineland)
1957-61 Studies at thhe Folkwang-School in Essen
1962-66 Studies at the Art Academy (Hochschule für Bildende Künste) in Berlin
Since 1963 His work focuses on redeveloping figurative painting. He concentrates largely on painting still life and portraits
Since 1968 He starts to paint interieus and landscapes at the Wannseedeponie, Berlin.
1972 Prize of the Böttcherstraße, Bremen, Germany
1972 Prize of the Villa Romana, Florence, Italy
Since 1972 Regularly travels to Gelting at the baltic sea
1974-2005 Teaches the painting class at the Art Academy in Berlin (Hochschule der Künste)
Since 1976 Starts his extensive international travelling. Starts collecting all kinds of exotic seeds of plants later to be grown in the painters garden. One of his first journeys is to Norway, where the first travel sketches (watercolours of the Lofotes) were made
1977 First self portraits (both drawings and paintings)
1978 Fussmann travels to the West of the U.S.A. and extensively paints the landscapes he found
1979 First self portraits within landscapes
1979 Prize of the city of Darmstadt, Germany
1980/84 Travels to Iceland
1981 Paints his first allegories (Marsyas)
1984 Travels to the Tuscany, Italy
1987 Travels to India
1988 Travels to Australia and New Zealand
1989 Becomes a member of the free academy of Hamburg. First solo exhibition at Gallery Ludorff
1990 Travels to Baja California, Mexico
1991 Second solo exhibition "Stilleben und Landschaften" (Still lifes and landscapes) at Gallery Ludorff
1992 Travels to the Galapagos Islands. Major museum solo exhibition "Ansichten" (Views) at the Kunsthalle Bremen, Germany. Third solo show at Gallery Ludorff
1994 Exhibition "Gardens and landscapes" at Gallery Ludorff
1994/1998 Extensive travels to Italy: Venice, Florence, Rome and Sicily
1996 Exhibition "Flowers and landscapes" at Gallery Ludorff
1996/1997 Six years after the reunion of western and eastern Germany the exhibition "Landscapes" is shown first at the chancellorship of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bonn. The exhibition later travels to the ZDF (Major german TV-station) in Mainz and to the Deutschen Historischen Museum (German National History Museum) in Berlin.
1997 Major museum solo exhibition at the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landesmuseum auf Schloß Gottorf, Germany
1998 Exhibition in the Castle of Hardenberg in Neviges (Rhineland), Germany. Exhibition "Reisen in Italien" (Travels to Italy) is shown in the state library in the Castle Kiel, Kiel, Germany
1999 60th Anniversary Exhibition at Gallery Ludorff
2000 Exhibition at the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landesmuseum Kloster Cismar. The first four volumes of the catalogue raisonne of his prints get published.
2001 Exhibition "Überblick" (Overview) at Gallery Ludorff
2002 Exhibition "Weltreisen" () at the headquarters of SAP, Walldorf, Germany
2003 Exhibition "Zeitsprünge" (Time ) at the Museum am Ostwall in Dortmund, Germany
2004 Exhibition "Blumen / Landschaften" (Flowers / Landscapes) at Gallery Ludorff
2005 A collection of his most important essays on art gets published. Title: "Der Wahn der Malerei" (The Madness of Painting) Publisher: Siedler Verlag ISBN: 3-88680-835-1
