DomQuartier Salzburg:

Under the title “Là ci darem la mano …”, opera characters from the masterpieces of Mozart, Verdi, Strauss and Puccini will be brought to life once more on the Residenzplatz and in the DomQuartier in Salzburg.

Contemporary art will make its way into the DomQuartier with sculptures by Stephan Balkenhol drawn from the world of opera. Balkenhol’s works fit particularly well into the historical context of the state rooms, especially as the first opera north of the Alps was performed in the Carabinierisaal and Mozart had his workplace here. The link to Balkenhol’s procession of figures on Residenzplatz is particularly appealing, as the square was, in the days of the prince-archbishops, the venue for grand artistic productions in which the general public also found a place.
