The woman is probably Margarete (Madeleine) Jaraczewsky, a friend of Lotte Laserstein's who modelled for her in Sweden.

The work is registered in the Lotte Laserstein Archive Krausse, Berlin, and due to its quality is included in the list of representative works created in Sweden, which supplements the catalogue raisonné 1910-1937
