The painting shows Margarete Jaraczewsky (Madeleine), whom Laserstein met in the late 1930's. The painting »Tre systrar« (Three Sisters) can be seen in the background

Due to its quality, the painting will be included in the list of representative works from the Swedish years, which will supplement the catalogue raisonné of paintings, drawings and prints 1910-1937 (Krausse 2006, revised and expanded version in preparation)
