The inverted Venus symbol ♀ at the bottom left of the picture is an indication that Lyonel Feininger wanted to keep this work for his personal collection. The watercolour shows St Mary's Church in Treptow (now Trzebiatów) on the Baltic Sea. The artist often visited Treptow during his summer holidays in Deep (now Mrzeżyno) from 1924 to 1935. This church in Treptow is depicted in the paintings Vita Nova, 1947 (Moeller 488) and Church of Old Treptow, 1949 (Moeller 510)
