The following feature is part of the rbb series “Masterpieces from Berlin and Brandenburg” and deals with the painting “Paradise can wait” by Cornelia Schleime. In this work, she portrayed none other than Pope John Paul II - in 2005, the year of his death. Cornelia Schleime, born in East Berlin in 1953, was awarded the honorary prize for her life's work this year as part of the Brandenburg Art Prize of the State of Brandenburg and the Schloss Neuhardenberg Foundation. She is internationally renowned, lived in Berlin for a long time and has since found the center of her life in Brandenburg. She is regarded as a multifaceted artist, because in addition to painting, writing and photography are also important to her.
