Kunstmuseum Ahlen:
"Ein Genuss! Früchte in der Kunst von Renoir bis Ai Weiwei"
July 6 - 26. October 26, 2025
Fruit promises all kinds of delights: Their fragrance, the richness of their colours - from lemon yellow to cherry red to apple green - but above all their delicious taste develop an irresistible potential for seduction!
No wonder that fruit has played an important role in art and art history for centuries - as attractive models in still lifes, but also as symbols of sensuality and the fall from grace, of prosperity and transience, of bacchanalian festivals and Christian passion.
For the first time in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Ahlen Art Museum is showing around 100 works from the unique collection of the Rainer Wild Art Foundation. Paintings, drawings, graphics, sculptures and videos by renowned artists of the 20th and 21st centuries illustrate a variety of approaches to the aesthetics and symbolic power of fruit.
A feast for the senses - and an invitation to savour!
