Studies painting at Akademie für Bildende Künste Berlin in the class of Julius Ehrentraut

Shortly student of Lovis Corinth, finishes as Meisterschüler of Arthur Kampf

Becomes a member of Novembergruppe

Multiple participation at Große Berliner Kunstausstellung

Professorship at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, moves to the rhine region

Diffamed by the Nazis, dismissed from his teaching position at Kunstakademie

Second appointment as professor for sculpturing at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, among his students are Joseph Beuys, Günter Haese

1947

Important commissions by the church, like the bronze doors of the south portal of the dome in Cologne

Receives the Kunstpreis of North Rhine-Westphalia

Medalled by the Triennale Milan

Mataré receives the Orderof Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany
