Heinrich Nauen is born in Krefeld.
1898
The Kunstakademie Duseldorf accepts the young artist.
1900-1902
Nauen studies at the art academy in Stuttgart.
1905
Journey to Paris; Nauen begins to study Vincent van Gogh's paintings intensively.
1906
Nauen moves to Berlin.
1911
Returns to the Lower Rhine.
1918
Nauen becomes co-founder of the artists' group “Das Junge Rheinland”.
1933
After the First World War, the artist is appointed professor at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. In 1933, he was forced to retire due to the ideological orientation of National Socialism and his works were categorised as ‘degenerate’.
1940
Heinrich Nauen dies of stomach cancer.
