Jerry Zeniuk

1945, Bardowick bei Lüneburglives and works in New York and Munich

Jerry Zeniuk is one of the early pioneers of the so-called "analytical", "fundamental" and also "radical painting", which developed in the USA, but mainly in Italy and Germany in the 1970s. His work is in the tradition of focusing on the conditions of painting itself, its possibilities and spaces of experience. In 1977 he participated in documenta 6 in Kassel, which among other themes was devoted to the painting tendencies of this decade. His work has since been recorded in numerous retrospectives, and was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1993 to 2011. Since 2014 he has been a docent at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste an der Alten Spinnerei.
