Acquaintance with his later spouse Lilo Lang at an Italian dancing school

1954

Graduated from academic high school.

1955

First typewriter-painting

1960

Marriage to Lilo. First solo exhibition abroad at Galleria Arturo Schwarz in Milan

"Großer Kunstpreis" of the federal state Nordrhein-Westfahlen

First contact with the Parisian surrealist circle around André Breton

First exhibition in Paris and birth of his first son David

Start of the intense preoccupation with the technique of etching

Professorship and direction of a class for free painting at the Kunstakademie in Dusseldorf

Lilo Klapheck lost her life in a fire in the family’s holiday home in the Netherlands
