Andy Warhol, Rose

Indian ink and Watercolour on vellum

21.3 × 10.5 cm / 8 3/8 × 4 1/8 in

Signed and dedicated »Happy Rose to Mrs Dempster« also stamped by »The Andy Warhol Art Authentication Board« and inscribed »'A114.1010'« on the verso

Unique Warhol produced the drawing using the »bottled line« technique. Mrs Dempster is possibly a nickname for the dancer Leon Danielian, whom Warhol greatly admired and who was Premier Danseur at the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo until 1958.

About Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol is regarded as one of the main representatives of American Pop Art. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Warhol knew how to filter and aesthetically rework the idols and banalities of everyday life.
