“The work “Wind” by Günther Uecker, created in 2005, tells of opposites. Hardness and softness. Energy and contemplation. Stillness and movement. Seen from a distance, it gives the impression of grasses gently swaying back and forth in the wind, inviting you to run your hand through them. Up close, you can see the hard work the artist put into this work, placing nail after nail on the surface in alternating directions and wave-like sequences. This created a three-dimensional space that is enhanced depending on the incidence of light and becomes more and more lively, almost as if the work were breathing. Uecker’s works are diverse and complex, but he has mostly remained true to the simplicity of his materials. Over the decades, an oeuvre/complete work full of power, energy and beauty emerged. Congratulations to Günther Uecker, who turns 94 today.”
